At Advocacy for All we rely on the support of our volunteers to continue providing the services that our clients depend on. We have a number of volunteer positions available to suit your skills and interests. Whatever role you choose, your help will mean more people have a better quality of life.

advocate

As an advocate you will support and represent people with a learning disability and Autism on an issue where they are finding it hard to speak up for themselves. You will work with your clients to make sure that they get the help they need and achieve the outcome they want.


you will support your client by
- providing an independent and confidential service
- meeting with them to learn about their experience and the outcome they want
- explaining information
- helping them understand their rights and options
- helping them make informed choices
- helping them prepare for meetings and attending with them
- writing letters on their behalf
- representing their views accurately


requirements
- live within 10 miles of the London Boroughs of Bexley, Bromley or Sutton
- available for at least 2 hours during week days
- reliable, committed and professional
- non-judgemental
- have an understanding of and be committed to Equal Opportunities
- good communication skills
- basic IT skills

NHS advocate

As an NHS advocate you will be supporting people of all abilities to make a complaint. This can be against any part of the service, care or treatment they have received provided by the NHS.


you will support your client by

- explaining information
- helping them understand their rights and options
- helping them make informed choices
- helping them prepare for meetings and attending with them

- reliable, committed and professional

admin assistant

As an admin assistant you will assist with a range of office based tasks that are important to the progress of our work.

you will support the team by
- responding to queries
- answering phone calls and passing on messages
- entering data on the computer
- helping create publicity materials
- typing and filing

- available for at least 2 hours during weekdays

trustee

as a trustee you will work with the board of trustees to make sure that:
- Advocacy for All has a clear set of goals
- the action is being taken to achieve those goals
- Advocacy for All meets its legal and financial responsibilities

how much time will it take?
- the Trustee Board meets 6 times a year from 6pm – 8pm
- trustees are encouraged to serve on other committees e.g Finance, HR, Recruitment
- trustees are in regular contact with the Chief Executive and other trustees by email
